On Monday 5 August 2023, the Luxembourg Anti-Doping Agency (ALAD) refuted rumours currently circulating regarding an anti-doping rule violation involving an athlete who is a member of the Luxembourg delegation to the Paris Olympic Games.

Loïc Hoscheit, Director of ALAD, stated "these rumours are unfounded and inaccurate".

However, ALAD also confirmed in the same statement that proceedings are currently underway against an athlete "in its testing pool" for an alleged violation of Article 2.4 of the ALAD Code relating to an athlete's "whereabouts obligations". The athlete concerned is not participating in the Paris Olympic Games.

The Doping Disciplinary Board (CDD) is currently appraised of the matter and a hearing will take place shortly.

ALAD has not identified the athlete in question, and their name will not be made public in order not to undermine the principle of the presumption of innocence. Further details, including the identity of the athlete, will be made public after the verdict of the CDD; the ALAD also stated that it will not make further comments on this ongoing case.
