Luxembourg Celebrates Opening of 685th Schueberfouer Funfair

On Friday 22 August 2025, the Mayor of Luxembourg City, Lydie Polfer, officially opened the 685th edition of the Schueberfouer.

The opening ceremony of Luxembourg’s yearly funfair was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Xavier Bettel and Deputy Mayor of the City of Luxembourg, Maurice Bauer, amongst other dignitaries. Lämmy, the Schueberfouer's friendly mascot, also featured, hugging visitors and taking photos with children.

After the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon by Mayor Polfer, the group proceeded on a tour of the fairground, led by the traditional parade of five sheep - a nod to the fair’s historic roots as a cattle and animal market.

They then proceed to enjoy several of the traditional amusement rides, such as the Venetian Carousel and Bellevue Ferris Wheel, before enjoying the traditional “Ham a Kuch” (ham and cake) at the Restaurant "Friture Armand".

The yearly funfair is a unique blend of tradition, market, fun-filled amusement rides, games, shopping stands and traditional foods. It is also the number-one gathering place for Luxembourg residents and a summer season highlight. The fair will run daily from 12:00 to 01:00, with food establishments opening from 11:00.

According to the City of Luxembourg (Ville de Luxembourg - VdL), this year’s Schueberfouer features six new rides, five new food establishments and will host two Family Days. The first of these, on Wednesday 27 August, will feature reduced prices for the rides. The second, on Wednesday 3 September, will focus on special offers at the food stalls. 

On the final day of the fair on Wednesday 10 September, tickets for rides will be half price between the hours of 12:00 to 20:00. The fair will then close with its traditional fire work display at 22:00.
