The ordinary general assembly of the Luxembourg League of Sports Associations of Basic Education (LASEP), held on Friday 1 March 2019, focused on the importance of sports for children's health.

It was in this context that Luxembourg Sports Minister Dan Kersch, who attended the general assembly at the Prince Henri centre in Walferdange, gave a speech emphasising the importance of sport and physical education in general for the healthy development of children from an early age.

The Minister highlighted the need for the establishment of local coordination structures for the implementation of the concept for motor, physical and sport education aimed at children from 0 to 12 years, presented last May. He similarly stressed the importance of close and complementary cooperation between all actors, LASEP sections, reception centres, local sports associations, parents and beyond with sports federations as well as with the ministries concerned, notably the Ministry of National Education, Childhood and Youth and the Ministry of Sports with its National School of Physical Education and Sports (ENEPS).

There are approximately 70 LASEP branches throughout the country.
