The Cinémathèque de la Ville de Luxembourg has announced the return of its popular City Open Air Cinema this summer, offering free screenings under the stars in the capital.

Free outdoor evening screenings are scheduled to take place on the big screen in Place Guillaume II (Knuedler) from Thursday 24 to Thursday 31 July 2025. The programme includes a mix of cinema classics, contemporary films and cult favourites.

The atmosphere of the City Open Air Cinema is intended to be friendly and relaxed, with a brief introduction provided before each screening. Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase on-site. Screenings will go ahead even in case of rain.

Admission is free and open to the general public, operating on a first-come, first-served basis (no reservations).

In collaboration with the LUGA - Luxembourg Urban Garden project, the Cinémathèque is also organising screenings aimed at "making the invisible visible" (LUGA's central theme) at the LUGA Lab in Odendahl Park on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 August 2025. These screenings will shine a spotlight on small creatures and major environmental issues.
