On Thursday 3 July 2025, Luxembourg's Customs and Excise Agency announced a record seizure of 121,400 cigarettes at Luxembourg Airport in Findel.

At the beginning of June 2025, officials discovered a total of 607 packs of untaxed cigarettes in the passenger area during routine checks. The cigarettes were confiscated from three passengers arriving from Athens, Greece, who were carrying six suitcases.

The security authorities at Luxembourg Airport reacted quickly and launched the appropriate investigations, according to the Customs and Excise Agency.

The three passengers are currently under investigation for suspected customs violations.

The Customs and Excise Agency reiterated its ongoing efforts to combat smuggling and illegal trade and to ensure compliance with all customs regulations.
