Non-profit organisation Sportunity has announced a new 'Integration through Sport' programme which will see regular training introduced for children and teenagers from refugee centres and households in Luxembourg.
The sport events will be provided by trained coaches as a means for young participants to become better integrated by exchanging with their local peers and learning languages.
Atheletics classes will be launched this week, particularly running for children in centres in the north of the country. Regular dance classes for children and adolescents were already begun in February in Luxembourg City, whilst other sports such as football are expected to be introduced shortly. The sports activities will take place in different centres and homes across the country.
The project was originally started with the support of the National Youth Service (SNJ), although Sportunity announced that it is looking for new sponsors to help support and progress the initiative.
