Cactus has announced the launch of a new range of locally produced pork in Luxembourg: "Vum Lëtzebuerger Bauer" (from the Luxembourgish farmer).

In addition to its offer from Luxembourg cattle and poultry breeders, the Cactus group is expanding its offer of locally produced pork through strengthened collaboration with 30 Luxembourg pig breeders. This new range of local pork, under the name "Vum Lëtzebuerger Bauer", is now available across the entire network of Cactus stores.

In this equitable and exclusive collaboration, pig breeders receive fair remuneration for their willingness and efforts to breed animals that meet the criteria defined by Cactus. According to Cactus, all pigs are born, reared and fattened exclusively on Luxembourg farms and slaughtered at the Ettelbruck or Wecker slaughterhouses with particular attention to animal welfare. An external quality audit guarantees the application of the rules listed in the specifications.

In addition to providing living conditions allowing animals to live with dignity, the requirements of the specifications are also expected to translate to better meat quality, the latter being directly linked to animal welfare. More than fifteen different pieces of pork are now available in Cactus supermarkets.

The new range is sold in transparent single-material polypropylene trays validated by Valorlux, which are easily recyclable in Luxembourg.
