Luxembourg's General Directorate for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises has announced that a record number of gift cards were ordered on Letzshop over the past weeks.
2020 has been an excellent year for the Letzshop.lu online sales platform, which is constantly setting new records - whether in terms of the number of members, products offered for sale or sales made. In the spirit of innovation, the platform introduced gift cards (available at: voucher.letzshop.lu). In the past six weeks, consumers ordered gift cards worth a total of €350,000 from local businesses and various institutions.
Letzshop.lu currently registers around 500 local shops offering around 370,000 items. The number of visits has also changed considerably in recent months, exceeding 450,000 visitors with more than three million page views between June and October 2020.
Initiated by the General Directorate for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, the Letzshop.lu online sales platform was launched in September 2018. It is managed by the Luxembourg for Shopping Economic Interest Group (GIE), which brings together the General Directorate for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, the Chamber of Commerce, the Luxembourg Confederation of Commerce and eighteen municipalities.
Luxembourg's Minister for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Lex Delles, highlighted that “Letzshop.lu helps companies in their digital transition. The online sales platform helps merchants face the digital challenge while boosting and diversifying retail. Letzshop's impressive results demonstrate the growing interest of the general public and the need for such a tool, which is particularly important in times of health crisis”.
Tom Baumert, President of GIE Luxembourg for Shopping, added: “In these difficult times, digital transformation has become more important than ever. Letzshop is a great opportunity for traders to pursue a digital strategy and is a real support for traders to meet the needs of customers at this time. We congratulate Letzshop for their support of the local business and their extraordinary work in recent months”.
