For the 6th year in a row, Delhaize Luxembourg is supporting the Caritas Buttek and the Croix-Rouge Buttek by way of its year-end solidarity action; the shops support disadvantaged families in Luxembourg.
From 19 November to 6 December 2015, customers at all Delhaize shops in Luxembourg will be able to purchase cash back vouchers to offer the equivalent of one or more meals to be made available through the network of social grocery stores. The vouchers cost as follows:
- 1 breakfast for €1.50
- 1 hot meal for €3
- 2 hot meals for €6
- 1 family meal for €12 (for 4 people)
The funds raised through the "Buttek" action are converted into food by Delhaize and distributed to the different social grocery stores located throughout the country. The Caritas Buttek social grocery stores are located in Esch-sur-Alzette, Rédange and Diekirch, with the Croix-Rouge Buttek in Clervaux, Differdange, Echternach, Grevenmacher, Rollingen, Steinfort and Wiltz/Weidingen. The "Buttek" social grocery stores support people affected by poverty, by providing food and everyday products at a third of the market price, in collaboration with authorised social services.
Last year, the 5th solidarity action raised €40,550 (representing a 30% rise on the 2013 figure and 50% more than in 2012), financing some 13,500 breakfasts and 6,750 hot meals.
