Rugby Club Luxembourg (RCL) has announced that JP Morgan clinched the RCL Social Touch League's Glory Division title on Thursday 24 July 2025.
Reigning champions JP Morgan secured the title again this year, edging out the Terres Rouges Buffaloes in a dramatic finish - decided on most tries scored - in a game played in front of a lively crowd of 150 fellow players and fans.
BBH took home the Crémant Development Division crown, fielding a "heartwarming, all-in-the-family lineup" that at times included fathers, siblings and partners. RCL described this as "a shining example of what social competitive sport is all about".
The RCL Touch Social League is Luxembourg's largest mixed-gender team competition, where male and female athletes play side by side under the same rules. Run by Lightning Touch, the touch rugby section of RCL, the league champions not just athleticism but also community, fun and inclusivity.
"Thanks to the unique, low-contact nature of Touch, our players range from age twelve to well into their 60s," said Hamish Cullen, RCL's Director of Touch. "We see parents playing with their kids, couples teaming up and complete beginners learning from experienced international players from Touch and Rugby Union. It's truly special."
RCL noted that the league's success would not be possible without the "dedicated effort" of more than 20 volunteers, led by Ben Hudson of Lightning Touch. Referees (each certified through Touch Luxembourg) not only ensured fair play but also coached new teams on the rules and spirit of the game.
"Our referees are the backbone of the tournament," said Ben Hudson. "They've been incredible - ensuring safety, fairness and a welcoming environment for everyone."
As the summer break approaches, the Touch community will continue its tradition of informal Tuesday night games at Boy Konen, now home to Luxembourg's first full-size, marked-up Touch pitch.
The next big event is the 23rd edition of the Kick Cancer Into Touch charity tournament, taking place on Sunday 28 September 2025.
