On Tuesday 3 June 2025, the Luxembourg Rugby Federation (Fédération Luxembourgeoise de Rugby - FLR) announced the appointment of James Kent as its new Director of High Performance.
He is set to take up the role on Tuesday 15 July 2025. James Kent brings extensive experience in coaching, performance analysis and talent development, having held key roles in both international and club rugby, the FLR noted. His previous positions include head coach of Monaco Rugby Sevens, skills coach and assistant coach at Stade Français Paris, performance analyst for the French national team (FFR) and director of rugby at Rugby Club Luxembourg, among others.
Kent previously served as national coach of Luxembourg’s senior XV team, leading the side in the Rugby Europe Trophy. He also worked as a performance analyst for the French national team, supporting preparations at the highest level, and held the same role with Rugby Canada during the Women’s Rugby World Cup.
According to the FLR, in his new role, James Kent will lead strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening elite player development and coaching structures. He will oversee national teams both directly and indirectly and will also manage the Luxembourg Rugby Academy.
His responsibilities will also include talent identification, training and performance monitoring, in line with the ethical and regulatory framework set by the FLR.
The Luxembourg Rugby Federation stated that it expects Kent’s leadership and strategic vision to support the continued development of high-performance rugby in Luxembourg.
