On Saturday 5 April 2025, Luxembourg's senior men's XV rugby team will play their fifth match of the 2024/2025 Europe Trophy season against Poland.

The match will take place at the Stade de Luxembourg in Luxembourg-Gasperich at 18:00, with head coach James Kent selecting a 23-man squad for the fixture. Compared to their previous home game against Sweden, where the Red Lions suffered a 18-57 defeat, the lineup sees the inclusion of Liam Caroll, Julian Clavien Timon and Luke Ng Yan Kwong.

According to the Luxembourg Rugby Federation (FLR), Stuart Logier, who received a red card and sustained a head injury during the previous match, is recovering well. The Swedish player involved in the incident is also reported to be recovering. Medical assessments have confirmed that neither player suffered a concussion, which has been described as positive news for both sides.

Rugby Europe’s Disciplinary Board has reviewed the red card decision from the Sweden match. As a result, Stuart Logier has received a three-week suspension.

After four matches, Luxembourg have two points from one draw and two defeats, placing them at the bottom of the tournament table. Their next opponents, Poland, have won all three of their matches and currently sit in third place, behind the Czech Republic (five matches played) and Sweden (four matches played). A victory for Poland would see them reclaim the top position in the standings.

This fixture will mark the final match of the 2024/2025 Europe Trophy campaign for James Kent’s team. In the event of a defeat, Luxembourg's senior men's XV rugby team will be relegated to the lower division – Rugby Men's Conference 1.

Red Lions player Yared Ketema shared his thoughts with Chronicle.lu ahead of the upcoming match: "The next game is just about pure discipline. We have to keep our discipline to really capitalise in such games. Poland are a very good team. They came from the division above. They’ve played against World Cup teams, so, I mean, they're not a joke. We have to take it more seriously and increase our discipline."
