Rugby Club Luxembourg (RCL) has announced that it is hosting the third edition of the Lëtzebuerg Rugby Ladies Day at Boy Konen sports field in Luxembourg-Cessange on Sunday 12 May 2024 from 10:00 to 13:00.

For the third time, RCL is looking forward to hosting this event dedicated to celebrating and empowering girls and women in sport. The event will take place in the presence of Luxembourg's Minister of Sport, Georges Mischo, and the Minister for Gender Equality and Diversity, Yuriko Backes, along with the President of the Luxembourg Rugby Federation (FLR), Jeff Boulot, the President of the Luxembourg Touch Federation, Nick Frank, and the President of RCL, Paolo Tarakdjian.

According to the organisers, this Rugby Ladies Day is an occasion to promote inclusivity, diversity and gender equality through sport. It offers a unique platform for girls and women of all ages and skill levels to come together, share their passion for sport and inspire the next generation of female rugby players. The event is open to all girls and women aged six and up, with or without previous rugby experience.

Attendees can look forward to a day filled with Touch and rugby stations designed to introduce more girls and women to rugby in a safe and fun way.

"Our mission is to promote sport, inclusivity and camaraderie through rugby," said one of the organisers, Giulia Iannucci, CEO of KnowThyBrand Women and Coach at RCL. "With the support of the Minister of Sport and the Minister of Gender Equality and Diversity we aim to showcase the potential of female rugby while advocating for greater gender equality in sports."

The organisers also described the joint attendance of Ministers Mischo and Backes as evidence of the government's commitment to promoting women's participation in sports and fostering an inclusive sporting culture nationwide. Their presence is expected to elevate the significance of Rugby Ladies Day and emphasise the importance of creating opportunities for girls and women in traditionally male-dominated sports like rugby.

Rugby Ladies Day is also one of the activities that form part of Luxembourg's Diversity Day. By uniting players, coaches and supporters from diverse teams and backgrounds, this event aims to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes and pave the way for a more inclusive and equitable future in rugby.
