On Monday 1 December 2025, Luxembourg’s Fondation Cancer (Cancer Foundation) and the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR) announced the signing of a new collaboration agreement covering the period 2026 to 2029.

Fondation Cancer noted that, on the occasion of their ten-year partnership, this renewed cooperation continues a decade of joint actions and marks a key milestone for oncology research in Luxembourg.

Since 2015, the Cancer Foundation and the FNR have co-funded seventeen projects, totalling €11,811,100, contributing to high-quality scientific research in both fundamental and applied cancer research. FNR President Martine Reicherts and Cancer Foundation President Dr Carole Bauer welcome this continuity in cooperation between the two institutions.

Dr Carole Bauer, President of Fondation Cancer, emphasised: “This new agreement symbolises the mutual trust and expertise we have built together over the years. For our patients, research represents a tangible hope: every scientific advance opens new treatment possibilities. Thanks to this partnership, we can support ambitious Luxembourg projects, evaluated according to the most rigorous international standards.”

Martine Reicherts, President of the FNR, added: “Ten years of collaboration with the Cancer Foundation have created a unique synergy between the scientific community, healthcare professionals and patients. With this new agreement, we continue our mission to support research excellence that is internationally competitive, while remaining attentive to the needs on the ground.”

This alliance combines the FNR’s expertise in scientific project evaluation with the Cancer Foundation’s close connection to patients and healthcare stakeholders.
