The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Germany (AMJ) has announced that it is organising the “Peace Bike Tour”, an event for the preservation and propagation of peace in the world.
AMJ is organising for the first time such an event "Muslims for Peace. The event aims to set an example of tolerance, cohesion and respect. “The bicycle is not only a good means of transportation, but also a symbol of freedom and joy of life,” the community emphasises.
The World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community said: “True peace can only be achieved when it is built beyond personal, family, ethnic, national and patriotic preferences and around general mediocrity.”
according to the community, it often goes outside its comfort zone and has been involved for many years in multiple projects and activities that promote social interaction and provide humanitarian and social assistance. Well-known initiatives include New Year$, tree planting, home visits to isolated elderly people, interfaith breakfasts, blood drives and mosque open days.
Sporting event
With around 55,000 members, the AMJ is one of the largest Muslim communities in Germany.
Since 2013, it is the first community to be recognised as a legal entity under public law (“KdöR” - Körperschaft des öffentlichen Rechts), like Christian churches.
The Peace Bike Tour 2024 begins on Saturday 12 October 2024 at 09:30 with a prayer ceremony for peace. The route leads from the historic and culturally rich city of Trier in Germany to Luxembourg, to the national headquarters of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association of Luxembourg (AMAL) at 39 rue des Jardins in Esch-sur-Alzette.
