The Anglican Church of Luxembourg has announced that it is organising a Choral Evensong with Te Deum at the Konvikt Chapel in Luxembourg-Ville (5 Avenue Marie-Thérèse) on Sunday 7 May 2023 at 17:00.

This special service will mark the occasion of the coronation of King Charles III and the Queen Consort of the United Kingdom and celebrate the birthday of Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg.

Speaking to Chronicle.lu about the significance of these upcoming events and special service, Reverend Evelyn Sweerts-Vermeulen explained: "As All Saints Anglican Church of Luxembourg, we have the privilege of being part of multiple communities: we look to the United Kingdom, because we are part of the Church of England. As Anglicans, we are also part of the worldwide Anglican Communion. And as a 'Culte conventionné', we are gratefully part of the community of Luxembourg. It is therefore fitting that we honour all these communities in our worship and activities."

"The 1662 Prayer Book of the Church of England has a lovely phrase in one of its prayers, asking that 'we may be godly and quietly governed'. In our annual Te Deum for the Luxembourg National Day, we give thanks that this is indeed the case for us," she continued. "The coronation of King Charles III and the Queen Consort make this a special year and so we decided to gather these strands of celebration and gratitude into one Choral Evensong, a traditional Anglican service of prayers and music. It's wonderful that singers from the wider community are joining our choir for this occasion."

The Anglican Church of Luxembourg is also taking part in the coronation celebrations at St George's International School in Luxembourg-Hamm on Saturday 6 May 2023.

Revd Evelyn Sweerts-Vermeulen elaborated: "A coronation is a community event, so we are pleased to contribute to the celebration at St George's School on Saturday with a 'Biscuits & Bunting' stall, and by offering a short reflection and prayer before the screening of the coronation."
