Luxembourg's national railway company, the CFL, has reported that travel disruptions are expected to and from Germany on Thursday 7 and Friday 8 December 2023 due to a rail strike.
As a result of the strike announced by the German union Gewerkschaft Deutscher Lokomotivführer (GDL), disruptions are expected for the circulation of trains on the railway axis to and from Germany (i.e. line 30 / axis: Luxembourg - Wasserbillig - Trier).
From 22:00 on Thursday until 22:00 on Friday, no trains will cross the German-Luxembourg border.
The CFL noted that in order to limit the impact on trains continuing to operate on the Luxembourg rail network, particularly between Luxembourg and Wasserbillig, adaptations to staffing plans have been made. Nevertheless, certain trains to/from Wasserbillig will be cancelled during the announced strike period. Two out of three trains per hour will, however, continue to run between Luxembourg and Wasserbillig (and vice versa).
