As the Luxembourg state schools reopened today, 15 September 2017, after their summer holidays, there are four new schools in the capital, one of which was inaugurated today.

Luxembourg city's mayor, Lydie Polfer, together with aldermen from the Ville de Luxembourg, visited classes 1-4 of the the Aloyse Kayser school on Friday, and will officiate at the inaugurations of the other three the week after next:

- Clausen Central School (official inauguration on 25 September)

- Ecole rue Charles IV (official inauguration on 27 September)

- Ecole rue Antoine Meyer (official inauguration on 29 September0).

In total, almost 5,000 children have returned to school at the 19 primary schools across Luxembourg city. Among these children, 1,752 are enrolled in cycle 1 (pre-school and early) and 3,201 in cycles 2 to 4. Pupils are divided into 351 classes, supervised by 615 teachers.
