Yesterday marked the inauguration of the Lycée technique for health professions in Ettelbruck, in central Luxembourg.
On Thursday 1 October 2020, Luxembourg's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mobility and Public Works, François Bausch, and the Minister of Education, Children and Youth, Claude Meisch, inaugurated this new training centre in Ettelbruck.
The school is spread over three different sites across the country: in Luxembourg, Bascharage and Ettelbruck (which since 1997 was located in a temporary building located in Warken).
After the preparatory works in July 2014, construction began in July 2016. The main objective of the construction of the new building was to carry out a pilot project with an innovative concept of "positive energy"; the building thus produces more energy than it consumes, also taking into account the embodied energy required for construction and demolition. The building produces energy through photovoltaic installations and thermal collectors on the facade, whilst also reducing energy consumption through ventilation with external air supply as well as A +++ electronic devices and LED lighting. The project has received “Minergie-P-ECO” certification, which relates not only to energy and comfort criteria, but also takes into account the use of ecological materials and prohibits all products harmful to health.
The 4-storey building with its wooden cladding is made up of seventeen classrooms and six clinical rooms for practical teaching and can therefore accommodate 450 students on an area of approximately 8,555 m2.
The commissioning of the building took place in July 2019. The overall estimated cost of the project is €29,000,000.
