Luxembourg's Ministry of National Education, Children and Youth has announced that 96% of final year students were present yesterday, on the first day back at school since lockdown began.

The final year classes of secondary education and vocational training resumed on Monday 4 May 2020, accompanied by several safety measures in the context of COVID-19.

In total, more than 96% of students expected in the country's secondary schools attended courses on this first day back. According to the Education Ministry, the absence rate of less than 4% corresponds to those recorded during normal school years (outside of the health crisis). The majority of students who were absent were reported to be vulnerable students.

The Ministry assured that every measure is being taken to allow students to complete their final year and obtain their fully valid diplomas.
