The sixth edition of MakerFest will take place on 8 and 9 July 2019, between 9:00 and 18:00 at the Lycée Edward Steichen in Clervaux, in northern Luxembourg.

The event is aimed at primary and secondary school classes, "maisons relais" (childminding service) groups, youth clubs and families.

This edition will focus on renewable energies and sustainable development. Throughout the day, more than 40 stands will offer a variety of activities, from programming, flying drones and piloting robots or solar-powered cars to designing digital games, composing digital music and understanding the processes of recycling and upcycling (processing waste into high-end products).

The Makerfest, held twice a year, in summer and winter, showcases the work of the current 29 "Makerspaces" across the country in 26 secondary schools, three primary schools and the Forum Geesseknäppchen. Set up in 2015, the Makerspaces are places of discovery, creative and multidisciplinary spaces open to all young people and technology enthusiasts of all ages. Everyone can develop their digital projects, having access to appropriate equipment and taking advantage of professional instruction. Their aim is to stimulate creativity, talent and entrepreneurship in the context of the accelerated digitisation of society and the economy. No prior knowledge is required to be able to participate, only curiosity, interest in new technologies and the desire to tinker.

On 9 July, the seven secondary schools selected for the first edition of the Goodyear STEM Student Challenge will compete before the public and a jury. An award ceremony will be held that same day.
