On Saturday 19 September 2015, the first 'Freshers and Followers' event welcomed around 200 attendees at St George's International School, Luxembourg ASBL.

The event was organised to welcome new starters to the school and to Luxembourg, with 28 stands offering parents information to browse whilst the children were kept occupied with a bouncy castle, fun activities and hot food.

The stands covered a range of industries, including fitness, news, charities, social networks, book shops, parent support groups and many more. Whilst parents were free to socialise with other families, entertainment was provided for the children in the form of activities such as badminton, dance sessions, games, mini hockey and, for the more creative child, tables set up in the canteen for drawing and colouring.

The event presented an important opportunity to enable the parents of around 700 students, both new and existing, to meet one another and get to know staff members and the welcoming atmosphere which St George's maintains throughout.

Freshers and Followers was organised by the Friends of St George's, a social and networking group which aims to organise regular social events, enhance parent and community integration and enable fundraising. All staff and families of the school are automatically Friends members and can choose to become actively involved in the network by volunteering for an activity or becoming a member of the core committee.
