The British Ambassador to Luxembourg, Alice Walpole, was delighted to open the Summer Fayre in bright sunshine at St.George’s International School in Hamm on Saturday 27 June 2015, with the school's Principal, Dr. Barkei.
The opportunity to discover a great variety of stalls, each offering typical delicacies and dishes from 15 different nations from around the globe, were spread out around the grounds of the school, bringing diverse cultures together.
What better way to gather families together for a series of fun and games including a coconut shy, chess games, basketball, football, and even a moment for a treasure hunt. The event was organised by the Student Council co-ordinator, Mr Tarmey, along with other helpers and parents who hope to raise funds that will go towards the Unity Foundation. The Student Parliament co-ordinator, Miss Alex Lennie, also hopes to raise funds that will go towards the Save the Children Charity for the victims of the Nepal earthquake.
Families were able to enjoy a nice BBQ on a typical summer’s day, with various finger food, ice cream, crepes and other refreshments. There was live music from the bands, George and the Dragons and Double Entendre, with other entertainment from St George’s Singers and also participation from various clubs.
This event was all about community unification which is the motto of St George’s International School.
