CSV International (CSI), the sub-organisation of the Christian Social People’s Party (CSV), has announced the election of its new President, Gerta Shaqe, along with a new National Committee and Executive Committee.

At a recent National Congress, CSI elected its new National Committee, composed of fifteen members. At its first meeting on Tuesday 11 March 2025, the Committee elected its executive committee as follows: President - Gerta Shaqe; Vice-President - Maria Candelas; Secretary - Carlos Garcia-Lon de la Fuente; Assistant Secretary - Indrit Nallbani.

As reported by CSI, with an extensive background in international relations, EU diplomacy, communication sciences, public administration, law and defence project management, new CSI President, Gerta Shaqe, brings a wealth of expertise to the leadership of CSI.

Her professional career includes work in the acquisition of defence programmes and leadership in EU and international projects across the fields of police, customs, taxation, security and defence. Her deep knowledge of governance and institutional cooperation strengthens CSI’s capacity to advocate for policies that address the evolving needs of Luxembourg’s diverse population.

Ms Shaqe is also an Ambassador of the Humanity Awareness Initiative (HAI), a global initiative incubated by the Barrett Academy for the Advancement of Human Values. This initiative aims to create a world where all people and living beings can thrive, fostering a society built on shared values, human dignity and mutual respect.

According to CSI, upon her election, Gerta Shaqe emphasised the importance of strengthening integration policies and amplifying the voice of non and new Luxembourgers in Luxembourg’s political landscape. She reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring that CSI continues to serve as a bridge between cultures, championing policies that enhance inclusion, democratic participation and equal opportunities for all, as reported in the statement.

I feel deeply involved in this mission. I firmly believe in a strong Europe, but we must all act and, above all, truly believe in it. People have lost confidence in politics, and for me, that is the real challenge. We need actions - concrete actions - to restore trust, foster unity and build a future where everyone feels heard and represented,” she stated.

CSI further noted that under Ms Shaqe’s leadership, the organisation is supported by a diverse and experienced National Committee, composed of professionals from a range of sectors. Notably, seven of the fifteen members are women, reflecting CSI’s commitment to gender balance and inclusive representation in leadership.

In addition to the aforementioned members, the Committee also includes Marlena Filimon, Bernard Biggar, Amel Meftah, Sahil Goel, María Constancia Miglierini, Tatsiana Bras-Goncalves, Michael Engbork, Barbara Longo, Alexandra Antonescu, Abdallah Chedid and Dejvid Ramdedovic.
