John Kerry, Secretary of State of the United States, will be in Luxembourg this week-end, Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 July 2016.
He will visit the Grand Duchy after accepting an invitation from Luxembourg's Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Jean Asselborn. This is the first visit a US Secretary of State to Luxembourg since 2005.
The visit will be hosted by Minister Asselborn, and they will hold a bilateral meeting at the Hotel Saint Maximin on Saturday. The Secretary of State will meet Luxembourg's Prime Minister, and Minister of State, Xavier Bettel, on Sunday 17 July 2016 - he is in Mongolia attending the ASEM summit meeting on Friday and Saturday.
The talks are scheduled to include bilateral relations between the Grand Duchy and the United States, as well as on transatlantic relations. The ministers will also review various current international issues, including the situation in the Middle East and relations with Russia.
Prime Minister Xavier Bettel and Secretary of State John Kerry also will also visit the Luxembourg American Cemetery in Hamm.
