On Saturday 20 February 2016, Minister of Labour, Employment and the Social and Solidarity Economy, Nicolas Schmit, will be participating in a conference on the future of the Schengen concept.

Under the title 'Schengen: Without Borders, But With Limits?', the conference in Berlin will enable participants to discuss different aspects of the Schengen agreement, including free movement, labour markets and populism, among others.

Nicolas Schmit will be intervening in a working group on 'The Schengen Mindset - Free Movement, Free Work?' which will examine the economic, societal and security consequences of a Schengen-less Europe. Minister Schmit will represent one of the experts aiding groups of participants in analysing the consequences of Schengen in one particular economic sector and how this field would look without the agreement, before on participant presents the subsequent results.
