The 8th and current Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon, has announced he will be visiting Luxembourg on Monday 22nd June where he will be received by Prime Minister Xavier Bettel and HRH The Grand Duke of Luxembourg.
Ban's arrival in the Grand-Duchy will centre around discussion of bilateral relations between Luxembourg and the United Nations as well as the main issues of European and international politics. On this occasion he will attend a working lunch in the presence of EU Foreign Ministers and the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini.
The visit is also set to involve meetings with several other key political figures in Luxembourg, including Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Jean Asselborn; the Minister of Cooperation and Humanitarian Action, Romain Schneider; and Environment Minister, Carole Dieschbourg.
The agenda will also include an opportunity for the EU ministers to propose the priorities of the Luxembourg Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second term of 2015. Visits to the Grand-Ducal Palace, as well as the Chambre des Deputés and the Ministère d'Etat, have also been organised.
