It’s not long now until, what promises to be a spectacular event, the size of which Luxembourg has never seen before, takes place in the big Chapito hall at Casino 2OOO in Mondorf-les-Bains.

Eurovision Gala Night Luxembourg, taking place on 25 October, will be both a traditional Eurovision song contest with 16 talented local candidates taking part, and an amazing line-up of performances from actual previous Eurovision winners: Conchita Wurst winner this year for Austria, Alexander Rybak Norwegian winner in 2009 and Linda Martin, who won for Ireland in 1992.

And as if that was not enough, Luxembourg’s 1992 contestant Marion Welter, will be performing a new version of her Eurovision entry “Sou fräi”.

Most countries in Europe organise charity gala nights outside the official Eurovision Song Contest, but this year Luxembourg holds biggest of them all with an audience of around 1,000 giving it the ability to attract amazing guests.  All this despite Luxembourg leaving the actual Eurovision Song Contest in 1993, or maybe because of it... This all goes to show just how popular Eurovision still is in the Grand Duchy.

It has been hard work for Eurovision Gala Night organisers OGAE (Organisation Générale des Amateurs de l'Eurovision) to arrange an event on such a large scale, and thanks partly to the Luxembourg Ministry of Culture this has been achieved. In fact Maggy Nagel, the Minister of Culture herself, helped persuade Conchita Wurst to join the Luxembourg event by writing personally to the artist.

Part 1 - The famous singing competition with sixteen finalists selected through casting. All singers are local representing a total of 14 countries. Each talented candidate has picked a song from the enormous Eurovision repertoire. The finalists will be judged, as in Eurovision, by a system of points awarded by an international jury of 16 professionals, and the audience.

Part 2 – The celebration continues with feature performances by three Eurovision contest winners:
- Conchita Wurst  - “Rise Like A Phoenix” (Austria 2014)
- Alexander Rybak – “Fairytale” (Norway 2009)
- Linda Martin – “Why Me” (Ireland 1992)
- Plus – Marion Welter singing Luxembourg’s 1992 entry “Sou fräi”.

Just as previous years the event will support a charity. This year Eurovision Gala Night is supporting Luxembourg Red Cross.
