The annual Church Fair is fast approaching, with the set-up at Useldange this Saturday (14 June) in preparation for the Fair itself on Sunday. Apart from the large range of stalls and games, as well as food and drink, the event has two top attractions, the Dog Show and Cake Competition, plus a blind auction for a budding Electric Guitar enthusiast.
Cake Competition: Home-baked cakes can be presented on Sunday morning (15 June) and will be stored in a cool environment until the judging at 14:00. There will be three categories (Cakes, Tarts, Cup-Cakes) and the judging criteria will be Presentation, Decoration and Taste. The judges will be led by Kathy Liebl, owner of Kathy’s Deli & Cupcakery. The Top Prize will be a 3-course Meal for 2 (drinks included) at the “Oro e Argento” restaurant at the Sofitel in Kirchberg! Following the competition, the cakes will be on sale at the Home Produce and Tea Tent stands.
Dog Show: All breeds, sizes and colours of dogs can be entered into this top attraction which will take place at 16:00, with the owners and dogs meeting beforehand in a shaded area. The format involves the owners leading their dogs around the “parade ring”, with the judges’ criteria being Grooming, Obedience and Personality. Rosettes are presented to the top three dogs!
So, get baking your cakes and grooming your 'pooches' in preparation for a super fun day! Registration for both the Cake Competition & the Dog Show - will be at the fair.
Blind Auction: Bidding has started for the Simon Guitar with Ibanez Valbee amplifier and stand, which will also be available for viewing on the day at the DvD & CD (Music) stall. The auction takes place at 17:30. The idea of the Blind Auction is that interested parties can put in a sealed (written) bid, with all bids being opened together at the fair on Sunday. Bids must include the Amount plus your Full Name, Address, Telephone Number and Contact Details.
Due to the Medieval Festival in Useldange on the day, the organisers have been informed that parking may not be easy; however, there is parking at the school, CCRA and grounds but that cars may also be parked along the route d’Everlange.
