On Wednesday, Fondation Cancer (the Cancer Foundation) presented a cheque for €122,160 to Dr. Jean-Philippe Nesseler in connection with the award of a postgraduate fellowship.
The grant awarded to the young radiation therapist researcher will allow him to undertake research on the relationship between radiation and the immune system, work that will be conducted with the Department of Radiation Oncology of the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) in collaboration with the National Centre for Radiotherapy (CFB) and the NORLUX laboratory of LIH.
This financial support will enable Dr. Nesseler to investigate the relationship between radiation and the immune system. The research work will be conducted over two years from January 2017 and will be led by Prof. WH McBride, the head of the UCLA laboratory for many years and international expert in the field of immunomodulée radiotherapy. The project will be realised in collaboration with the National Radiotherapy Centre and the laboratory NORLUX Neuro-Oncology in LIH where the young researcher will continue his career upon his return from the United States.
