The Environment Department of Luxembourg's Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure has announced that algal blooms have increased and algae layers were formed on the Lac de la Haute-Sûre in the north of the Grand Duchy.
As part of monitoring the quality of bathing water, the LIST Research Centre was commissioned to conduct analyses to determine the composition of the species of algae.
The current weather conditions are favourable for the growth of such algae and swimming is not recommended as a precaution until test results are available.
