Luxembourg's Mandy Minella has lost her first-round match in the Ladies Singles at the US Open tennis championship that is currently being played at New York.
The 31 year-old from Esch-sur-Alzette (currently ranked #110) who won through last week's qualifying tournament, got off to a great start in her match in the first round proper, against Ukraine's 22 year-old Elina Svitolina (seeded #22), winning the first set 7-6 in a tie-break. However, her opponent upped her game and win the second and third sets 6-0, 6-2, to progress to the sedond round.
