The 189th Emaischen (Easter Market) is being held around the area of the former Fish Market behind the royal palace in Luxembourg city centre this coming Easter Monday, 28 March 2016 (a second Emaischen is also being held in Nospelt in the west of the Grand Duchy).
The Emaischen market - open between 08:00 - 18:00 on Easter Monday - is famous for its Peckvillercher (ceramic bird whistles). In addition, a number of bands will provide live musical entertainment, also song and dance, including the Luxembourg folklore group "Uucht - La Veillée" from 09:40 - 10:50, and "Lidderuucht Lëtzebuerg" performing a concert from 11:00 - 12:00, commemorating the 125th anniversary of the death of Luxembourg author Edmond de la Fontaine.
On Monday, a series of traffic diversions will be in operation due to road closures for the Emaischen Easter Market.
