The RETEL (Réseau d'Etude sur le Marché du Travail et de l'Emploi) released its third issue of its labour market panel. This quarterly dashboard aims to present indicators on the flow of labour (recruitments and end of contracts) and provide a better analysis of the dynamics of the Luxembourg labour market.
This issue presented the figures for the period from December 2013 to December 2014, when 121 849 recruitments and 112 617 end of contracts were noted. There was an increase of 1.3% for recruitment compared to the figures from September 2013 to September 2014, and increased 1.3% for end of contracts.
The new figures confirm that the sectors making the most hires are that of the trade, construction and food services industries.
Each panel issue features a new indicator, with the indicator for this term being the flow of labour by nationality and residence. Within all the collective sectors, nearly one in five recruitments goes to a Luxembourg resident; two recruitments in five to a non-Luxembourgish resident and two recruitments in five to one commuter. An almost identical distribution was observed for end of contracts. The breakdown of recruitment by sector shows that some sectors have a different weight in recruitment by nationality and residence.
