On Monday 16 March 2026, nearly 900 people who completed the National Sports Badge in 2025 received gold, silver or bronze medals during a ceremony at the Coque gymnasium in Luxembourg-Kirchberg.
Luxembourg’s Minister of Sport, Martine Hansen, presented the awards. According to the Ministry of Sport, a total of 867 participants obtained the National Sports Badge in 2025 out of 1,509 registered participants. The programme aims to promote physical activity and encourage citizens of all ages to improve their physical fitness.
The ministry noted that the National Sports Badge allows participants to test their level of physical fitness through a series of sporting tests adapted to their age and gender, with minimum performance standards defined by grand-ducal regulation.
The tests generally cover four areas: endurance, athletics, swimming and cycling. To obtain the badge, participants must complete a number of tests within the same calendar year, with the exact requirements depending on their age group.
In each discipline, candidates must complete at least one test of their choice. Based on their performance and a scoring table, tіhey receive a specific number of points, with the final result determining the level of badge awarded: bronze, silver or gold.
The level awarded depends on the total number of points accumulated across the different tests. By way of derogation from the general regulation, candidates aged 40 to 59 may obtain a bronze or silver badge provided they complete three tests and reach the required number of points. Candidates aged 60 and over must successfully complete at least two of the four tests.
