The Luxembourg Archery Federation, which is affiliated to both the Luxembourg Olympic Committee and the World Archery Federation, is holding its National Individual Archery Championships on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 March 2016 at the National Archery Centre in Strassen from 13:00.
Qualification will start on Saturday at 13:00 and on sunday at 09:00 with 30 arrows to be shot over a distance of 18 metres. One hour after the end of qualification will see the elimination rounds followed by the finals, with each archer having 5 sets of 3 arrows for Recurve Bows and the same for the Compound category. All rounds will see groups of 4 archers in competition together.
The categories include Minimes, Scolaires, Cadets, Juniors and Veterans. The competition will be held indoors.
On Saturday the juniors and veterans will shoot and on Sunday the seniors. Some young archers will also compete on Sunday, including 16 year-old Viveca Beckers, senior champion in 2014 and 2015. Another 16 year-old is Joe Klein, who is tipped to win a medal with the senior men.
The FLTA changed its rules last year, so that now anybody who has lived in Luxembourg for more than one year can compete in the championships, regardless of nationality. There are 11 archery clubs in the Grand Duchy that are members of the national federation.
