Gilles Muller's luck deserted him on Thursday when he played his third-round match in the Men's Singles in Tennis at the Rio Olympics in Brasil.

Having been postponed from Wednesday due to inclement weather, the early match on Thursday - played at 16:00 CET - resulted in a two-set defeat for the Luxembourg player who is ranked #37 in the world. Up against the #7 ranked player in the world and the #10 seed, Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut, Gilles Muller lost 4-6, 6-7. Agust will go on to play against Juan Martin Del Porto of Argentina, who defeated world #1 and top seed, Novak Djokovic, in the first round.

Earlier in the competition, Gilles Muller had defeated Jerzy Janowicz from Poland and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga from France, ranked #5.
