On Wednesday evening, German-Luxembourgish concert and cabaret star Adrienne Haan made her debut at Philharmonie Luxembourg, with not one but two performances of her show "Till The End of Time".

Chronicle.lu got the opportunity to attend the second performance of the night - an energising 90 minutes of non-stop entertainment.

Throughout the show, Adrienne Haan and her pianist, the award-winning Benjamin Schaefer, with whom she has worked for fifteen years, breathed new life into classic songs from the Great American Songbook. Together they took spectators back in time to the era of Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern and Ogden Nash, among other composers, with Ms Haan hitting all the right notes along the way.

Between songs, the cabaret star drew her audience in further with personal anecdotes and facts about the composers, thus demonstrating her skills as an all-round entertainer.

As the evening drew to a close, and in between standing ovations, Adrienne Haan and Benjamin Schaefer gave three encores, including a surprise jazzy rendition of the Luxembourg national anthem "Ons Heemecht".

Both shows at Philharmonie Luxembourg were sold out, with each accommodating around 50 spectators all of whom were wearing masks, seated for most of the performance (exceptions were made for the standing ovations and some clapping and dancing on the spot) and spread out in the intimate Salle de Musique de Chambre.

Whilst Adrienne Haan has previously performed in Luxembourg, most recently at Théâtre d’Esch in Esch-sur-Alzette and the Théâtre National du Luxembourg, and has made several appearances on and off-Broadway in New York, as well as at other venues across the globe, this was her first (but perhaps not her last) performance at Philharmonie Luxembourg.

Adrienne Haan’s next Luxembourg performance will be at the Festival de Wiltz, where she will perform her “Cabaret Français”, on 25 July 2021.
