From 26-30 March 2019, the string section will be in the spotlight at the Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg.

"Strings Week" ("Semaine des cordes") will bring together students, teachers and listeners with a shared passion for string instruments, and music in general. Bringing together the four instruments of the string family - the violin, the viola, the cello and the double bass - the string department of the Conservatoire is particularly involved in orchestral and ensemble practices. It is also recognised for its quality and dynamism through many projects: masterclasses and meetings of invited artists, regular concerts, courses in collaboration with the OPL and the OCL, thus offering a rich and unique experience to its students.

On the agenda of these five intense musical days will be concerts, recitals and conferences, as well as masterclasses with Laurent Breuninger, Marie Hallynck and Garth Knox, an improvisation workshop with André Mergentalher, an introduction to Baroque with Sylvie Kraus and Werner Matzke and an open-space violin workshop by the Colofin association.
