American musicians The Klezmatics will be performing on Sunday 29 January 2017 at 18:00 at the Salle Robert Krieps, Neimënster (28, rue Munster, L-2160 Luxembourg).
Neimënster, in collaboration with Folk-Clupp Lëtzebuerg, will be hosting the performance by The Klezmatics, as part of their 30th anniversary, at the end of the month. The event has been organised with the support of the Consistoire Israélite de Luxembourg, the Communauté Israélite d’Esch-sur-Alzette and the Luxembourg Ministry of Culture.
The Klezmatics are a world-renowned, Grammy-winning band from New York. Performing since 1977, this year marks the group’s 30th year anniversary which they are celebrating with a new record and world tour.
The group’s music reflects Eastern European Jewish tradition, combined with contemporary themes such as human rights. Their music is also influenced by Arab, African, Latin and Balkan rhythms, jazz and punk.
The Klezmatics’s first performance, and one of their most successful concerts, in Luxembourg dates to 1995 during the Cultural Capital Year.
