The Ville de Luxembourg has announced the relocation of the "Bikeport" bicycle parking rack to Avenue Victor Hugo in Luxembourg-Limperstberg.

As of Wednesday 17 February 2021, the "Bikeport", a bicycle parking rack designed to look like the silhouette of a car, occupies its new location in Avenue Victor Hugo on the parking strip near the church in Limpertsberg.

This rack, which is the size of a car, allows a dozen cyclists to park their bicycles on public roads. On the one hand, it aims to respond to a need for bicycle spaces in the capital and on the other hand aims to raise awareness of an alternative and reasoned allocation of public space.

The Bikeport was first installed in 2012 on Rue du Fossé before occupying a location on Rue Notre-Dame since 2016. Conveying a positive message and promoting cycling mobility in Luxembourg  City, the rack regularly changes location in order to make more people aware of soft mobility.

The initiative is also in line with the mobility policy of the City of Luxembourg, which aims to further develop infrastructure related to two-wheelers and make their use more attractive.
