Carsharing Luxembourg S.A. has announced that it is expanding its Carloh carsharing offer in Luxembourg City to include an additional seven stations and fourteen vehicles.

Four years after its launch in October 2015, Carloh currently has over 680 loyal customers who have undertaken 20,600 trips over a total of 900,000 kilometres. The seven new stations and fourteen additional vehicles will complete the existing fleet of seventeen vehicles spread over nine stations, thus bringing the total number of stations to sixteen with access to 31 vehicles.

The decision to expand its Carloh network resulted from Carsharing Luxembourg's desire to both strengthen its presence in some of the big districts in Luxembourg City and create new stations in districts where the service was not yet present. In this regard, new stations are planned for the districts of Cents, Cessange, Rollingergrund, Hollerich and the Kirchberg Plateau, whilst a second station will be created in the districts of Bonnevoie and Gare respectively. Among the new vehicles, Carloh is offering two cars equipped with automatic gearboxes.

Through this initiative, Carsharing Luxembourg and the City of Luxembourg aim to offer a service of real proximity for its inhabitants. Indeed, the satisfaction survey carried out in 2018 revealed the public's expected creation of additional stations, especially in more remote areas.

Paul Hoffmann, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Carsharing Luxembourg, commented: "Because of its complementarity with the buses, the vel'OH and the tram, the ever easier access to [...] carsharing plays a major role in the establishment of a strengthened mobility chain and increasingly facilitates concrete access to modes of travel linked to soft mobility. It also [means] that the possession and use of private vehicles for all or part of the trips is no longer an obligation, but an increasingly questionable choice".

The first of the new stations, Station Nancy, was inaugurated yesterday in Place de Nancy in Luxembourg-Hollerich, with two more planned to open tomorrow (Station Carmel and Station Pescatore). The remaining four stations will be inaugurated on 30 October 2019: Station Sigismond; Station Frenes; Station Strasbourg; Station Noppeney.
