On Friday 23 May 2025, the Syndicate d'Intérêts de Gasperich "Interesseveräin Gaasperech" and the non-profit organisation "Eis Stad" presented the mobility plan for Gasperich, which had been developed during a participatory process involving about sixty people.

According to the organisations, the objective was to submit these proposals to municipal officials as a starting point for a close dialogue with citizens on their ideas. They reported that, unfortunately, no one responsible for the council was present; they have indicated that they are requesting a meeting with the council in order to discuss the next steps.

In the first phase, they invited residents to take a walk through the neighbourhood to identify areas for improvement. Secondly, during a workshop, around fifty people discussed the neighbourhood's mobility needs — identified during the walk and others — and put together ideas to address them. From the wildest ideas like an elevated bike path to very concrete proposals, anything was allowed to fuel the discussion.

The main areas of development, according to residents, concern:

– traffic calming for a better quality of life
– safer and more convenient soft mobility
– better design of public spaces to promote community living

According to the organisations, all these ideas were then analysed by a working group composed of neighbourhood volunteers — including some experts in the field — as well as several members of the interest association and "Eis Stad" committees, during two workshops held in July 2024. This group considered all of the residents' needs and suggestions, analysed them, and, where necessary, developed them. Below you will find the result of this participatory process.

The authors of the plan shared their expectations for the next steps, summarised in a document distributed during the presentation. They indicated that close collaboration between neighbourhood residents and technical experts from the City of Luxembourg will be necessary in order to:

• Adopt an official mobility plan for Gasperich, developed based on the proposals resulting from the participatory process, with genuine recognition of the citizen work already accomplished.
• Organise biannual meetings between political representatives, technical managers and the Neighbourhood Union to: present and explore the issues and proposed solutions, work together to adapt the technical measures, and ensure continuous and transparent information for citizens.
• Quickly launch the first concrete measures to address the neighbourhood's urgent needs and improve quality of life.
• Establish regular monitoring and clear communication with residents.
