The Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO) today reported that the tourism industry of Luxembourg's capital is on the rise, with tourist activity indicators showing an increase of 9.8%.
Accoridng to LCTO, tourist activity grew 9.8% since the beginning of 2015, as compared to the same period for the previous year, affirming the growth of Luxembourg tourism that has been evolving over the past six years. The figures were established according to several indicators, including the number of visitors at the Office's reception and information centre on Place Guillaume II, the number of visitors registering for regular guided tours as well as requested tours, and the number of visitors to the Bock Casemates.
Together with its 'Luxembourg Jackets' mobile team, the LCTO Reception recorded 132,870 listed contacts, which represented a 7% increase as compared to 2014. The number of people registering for the 4,006 guided tours offered by the company increased even more from the previous year, by 11.6% to 160,000 people.
The Bock Casemates, in their status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, signify one of the main tourist attractions in the Grand Duchy, and have received 74,954 visitors since March.
The LCTO has indeed recently sought to confirm Luxembourg's position as tourist destination through various projects, including the inclusion of the Plateau du Rham in the Wenzel Circuit; the Schengen afternoon tour; the opening of the Grand Ducal Palace to the public; open-air and free-entrance music events such as Klassik am Park, the Jazz'n'Blues rally and Rock am Knuedler; and the Streeta(rt)nimation outdoor art festival taking place this weekend.
