On Thursday 24 March 2022, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 2,183 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 1,023 fatalities (four new deaths since Wednesday) resulting from the virus to date.
2,183 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Thursday from a total of 5,258 tests carried out the day before, representing 343.93 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 41.54%. Wednesday 26 January 2022 marked the record daily high of 3,073 new cases.
The average daily increase (over a seven-day period) is currently 1190.14.
A total of 39 people are in hospital with the virus, including three patients in intensive care.
There are currently 16,352 active infections known, whilst a total of 188,669 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 0.95.
A total of 1,273,675 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (479,411 first doses, 430,132 second doses, 364,132 additional doses). A total of 471,633 people are now fully vaccinated.
The incidence rate (per 100,000 inhabitants) for unvaccinated individuals was 293.28; for vaccinated individuals, this was 363.09. These figures only take into consideration people who returned a positive PCR test.
