On Wednesday 16 March 2022, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 1,450 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 1,008 fatalities (one new death since Tuesday) resulting from the virus to date.

1,450 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Wednesday from a total of 3,682 tests carried out the day before, representing 228.44 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 39.47%. Wednesday 26 January 2022 marked the record daily high of 3,073 new cases.

The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 916.00.

A total of 39 people are in hospital with the virus, including four patients in intensive care.

There are currently 12,620 active infections known, whilst a total of 182,668 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 1.06.

A total of 1,271,587 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (479,248 first doses, 429,425 second doses, 362,914 additional doses). A total of 470,918 people are now fully vaccinated.

The incidence rate (per 100,000 inhabitants) for unvaccinated individuals was 199.50; for vaccinated individuals, this was 239.45. These figures only take into consideration people who returned a positive PCR test.
