On Thursday 3 March 2022, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 845 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 995 fatalities (two new deaths since Wednesday) resulting from the virus to date.
845 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Thursday from a total of 3,164 tests carried out the day before, representing 133.13 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 26.77%. Wednesday 26 January 2022 marked the record daily high of 3,073 new cases.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 644.57.
A total of 30 people are in hospital with the virus, including six patients in intensive care.
There are currently 9,667 active infections known, whilst a total of 175,045 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 0.95.
A total of 1,266,365 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (478,733 first doses, 427,635 second doses, 359,997 additional doses). A total of 469,120 people are now fully vaccinated.
The incidence rate (per 100,000 inhabitants) for unvaccinated individuals was 156.78; for vaccinated individuals, this was 124.00. These figures only take into consideration people who returned a positive PCR test.
