On Friday 25 February 2022, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 708 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 988 fatalities (no new deaths since Thursday) resulting from the virus to date.
708 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Friday from a total of 2,751 tests carried out the day before, representing 111.54 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 25.77%. Wednesday 26 January 2022 marked the record daily high of 3,073 new cases.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 647.29.
A total of 28 people are in hospital with the virus, including eight patients in intensive care.
There are currently 9,537 active infections known, whilst a total of 171,378 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 1.24.
A total of 1,263,077 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (478,316 first doses, 426,715 second doses, 358,046 additional doses). A total of 468,197 people are now fully vaccinated.
The incidence rate (per 100,000 inhabitants) for unvaccinated individuals was 96.29; for vaccinated individuals, this was 117.47. These figures only take into consideration people who returned a positive PCR test.
