On Sunday 22 March, Luxembourg's Minister of Health, Paulette Lenert, held a press conference to outline emerging measures being put in place concerning the continued spread of COVID-19 throughout the Grand Duchy and worldwide.
In addition to the mobile hospital being erected at the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL) in Strassen, which is expected to be operational tomorrow, Monday, the Minister confirmed that four existing buildings would be converted into additional medical facilities due to the expected rise in number of patients infected with the Coronavirus: LuxExpo in Luxembourg-Kirchberg, Rockhal in Esch-Belval, Mondorf Domaine Thermal in Mondorf-les-Bains and the Chateau de Colpach (which is used as a rehabilitation centre by the Croix Rouge) which are all on standby.
Minister Lenert also confirmed that 200,000 surgical masks have been distributed to medical staff in Luxembourg. She also revealed that a new platform will be unveiled by the Luxembourg Government tomorrow, Monday, to avoid the risk of running out of medical material and medical expertise/experts.
