On Tuesday 22 September 2026, Luxembourg’s Department of Media, Connectivity and Digital Policy (SMC) reported that Prime Minister Luc Frieden had inaugurated the exhibition “In Search of the Truth – Journalism and Us” at RTL City in Luxembourg-Kirchberg on Monday 21 September 2026.
During his speech, Prime Minister Frieden stressed the importance of strengthening trust in journalism by explaining the work of journalists, in order to preserve an environment conducive to freedom of expression and democracy. He noted that “those who are usually behind the lenses and the pens must be placed back at the centre: the journalists”.
According to the SMC, the exhibition allows the public to discover, in a participatory and playful way, the work of media professionals and how reliable information, which is essential for forming political opinions, is produced. It is aimed particularly at secondary school classes in order to raise young people’s awareness of the importance of reliable information in the age of social media, disinformation and deepfakes. It emphasises that, beyond protective measures, media education remains essential for developing critical thinking.
The exhibition forms part of the National Action Plan for the Safety of Journalists (2025-2028) and was created in Luxembourg at the initiative of the SMC, with the contribution of the University of Luxembourg as part of the “Medialux” project, and in partnership with RTL, the Embassy of Switzerland in Luxembourg and the Journalistory.ch association.
